There's a big writeup at the bottom of this post where Mooney actually wins. It really looked like it was going to happen. It didn't. You can read below what crippled Craig and sent Nikki to the top of the standings, holding on for the win against Brett. Here's what was originally written for tonight's event until Mooney got unlucky running his pocket sixes up against Nikki's queens. That hand cost Mooney 18,450 chips and gave Nikki a HUGE chip lead over everyone.
Okay, in some bizarro world, Mooney probably is a good poker player. We all know that in THIS world, he isn't. Yet tonight, in what can only be attributed to him having sold his soul to Satan, he jumped out right off the bat to a commanding chip lead and held that lead throughout the evening to score his VERY FIRST victory since we've started playing back in 2005. It took the fucker over 3 years but he managed to pull it off! The best hand probably had to be when he sent Mike H to the rail. He calls Mike's all-in with deuces and Mike flips over AT. Mooney flops a set, Mike turns Broadway and the river shows a second jack to fill Mooney up. Mike mutters something about going home and killing some cats and left shortly after. Not only did Mooney capture his first win, he also now holds the record for the most kills with a respectable 10 kills. We had a great turnout tonight with 17 players (and 1 rebuy). 12 of those 17 joined the league so we're only one person behind last year's league total of 13. So even with the shitty weather we more than doubled last year's dismal January turnout.
