July Recap

Yeah yeah, I know...I missed June's recap. Pretty much the whole story of June was Mooney's J2s jackass call cracking Adam's aces. Fuckin' donkey. I'm surprised Adam didn't pound him.

So, tonight's event was not quite what I hoped. Due to various other commitments such as Jamaica, Stag & Does, White Stripes concert, asshole bosses forcing you to work the whole weekend, the turnout was smaller than I had hoped for. We only ended up with nine players. Scott ventured back into the fold this month and Mike H's new wife Chantel (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) joined the game as well.

Tonight was also our annual BBQ which I believe was once again an unqualified success! As usual we had WAY WAY WAY too much food - even if we would have had twice the number of people. But that's okay. Better to have too much than not enough. Thanks to Nikki's folks for the salads and my Mom for making the deviled eggs.

Jen also spent a bit of time in the kitchen and whipped up a batch of cookies in the design of poker chips! They were much appreciated and delicious as always.

Onto the game. So yeah, I busted out early again. Fuck! Blinds were 20/40 at the time I believe and it was raised to 120 with a couple limpers. I look down at pocket fives and pop it up to 480. The action folds around to Scott who calls. The flop comes 5-J-x with two diamonds. I immediately move all in and Scott calls and turns over Q8d! Since you know I busted you can guess the suit of the river card. So yeah, he had me covered - but not by much so he essentially put his whole game on the line for a draw with 7 outs (or maybe only 6). Sigh. Live poker's rigged.

Tim pulled off his second win in a row beating Nikki the very first hand of heads-up action. So without further ado, I present to you the results from tonight's event:



The next poker night is August 18th. September's poker night, currently scheduled for the 15th will probably have to be moved.
